I am posting to draw your attention to a brand new Creative Writing course I will be teaching next year at Richmond Adult & Community College (RACC) in Surrey.
The course – “Exploring Creative Writing” – starts on January 13th 2014 and runs for 11 weeks. It will take place on Monday evenings (7pm-9pm).
The course, devised by yours truly, explores all aspects of creative writing to help you discover your voice and develop your creative writing skills. You will be stimulated, challenged and entertained in equal measure and, as your confidence builds, you will gain mastery across the forms and genres, allowing your creative voice to grow and giving full reign to your imagination.
Each unit within the course explores each of the main creative writing forms (including novels, novellas, short stories, poetry, plays, screenwriting and blogging) and genres (including Crime, Fantasy, Horror and Science Fiction). Practical writing tasks (focusing on characterisation, plot, structure and dialogue) and supportive group workshops (with tutor guidance and feedback) will give direction to your writing. The course also incorporates advice concerning publication – including finding a literary agent (I was on the books of a leading literary agent for ten years) and the pros and cons of self-publishing.
My course is suitable for anyone who enjoys creative writing, whether as a hobby or with professional aspirations. Above all, it should be a whole lot of fun on a cold, dark Monday night!
